Francine goes to Hollywood to speak to this year's Oscar® contenders and industry insiders about the film world's biggest night of the year.
The Film Programme launches its new extended show on Friday afternoons with a special Oscars programme broadcast from Hollywood. With 48 hours to go before up to a billion people tune in to watch the ceremony, Francine Stock goes behind the scenes and assesses the chances of the contenders in this year's Oscars race, where lobbying is as intense as for a political campaign.
She speaks to past winners and this year's frontrunners including Reese Witherspoon ('Walk the Line'), George Clooney ('Syriana' and 'Good Night, and Good Luck'), Philip Seymour Hoffman ('Capote'), and 'Desperate Housewives'' Felicity Huffman ('Transamerica').
'Syriana' (15) is showing in UK cinemas now.
The 78th Academy Awards will be shown live on Sky Movies 1 at 0005 on Monday 6 March. Sky 1 will show highlights of the ceremony later the same day at 2200.
