His latest film Closer, based on the play by Patrick Marber, centres on the relationships between four characters played by Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman and Clive Owen.

Sir Christopher Frayling, Chairman of the Arts Council and longstanding Clint fan, reflects on the enduring appeal of Clint Eastwood, who at 74 is a hot contender for Oscars this year with his new film Million Dollar Baby. The film stars Eastwood as a boxing manager well past his prime who comes across a determined female boxer played by Hilary Swank.

Audrey Tautou
Chris Tookey talks to Amélie star Audrey Tautou about her new film A Very Long Engagement. Tautou plays a young woman who is convinced that her fiancé, long since believed to have been killed in the First World War, is still alive. She sets out to find him with the help of a private detective.
A Very Long Engagement, certificate 15, will be released in cinemas on 21 January 2004.
Meet the Parents
Coming soon to cinemas is Meet the Fockers, the new sequel to the hit comedy Meet the Parents, which starred Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro. Writer Jenny Colgan looks back at the original which many now hail as a comedy classic.
A special edition DVD of Meet the Parents, certificate 12, will be available in shops from 17 January 2004. Meet the Fockers, certificate TBC, will be released in cinemas on 28 January 2004.
