Kanya King is CEO and founder of the MOBO organisation, which has played a major role in bringing black music and culture to the mainstream. She founded the MOBO Awards in 1996 and since then it has grown into a national institution. She was awarded an MBE for her services to the music industry in 1999.
She is a founder member of Netwomen, a network of high-profile women in the media, and has worked as a consultant to the government on gun-crime. She was made an honorary fellow of Goldsmith’s College, London, in 2002.
