Jay Hunt was appointed to the top creative job at Channel 4 in 2011. Prior to this she had served as controller of BBC One since 2007. Having started at the BBC as a researcher in 1989, she rose through the ranks.

She arrived at Channel 4 not long after it had taken the decision to axe Big Brother, and has taken on the challenge of producing a schedule to generate the ad revenues on which the channel depends.
