Maverick chef Michael runs The Man Behind the Curtain in Leeds.

Not setting out to become a chef, Michal studied Aeronautical Engineering at Kingston University where he trained to be a pilot, before falling in love with food.
Prior to opening his own venture last year, Michael spent time working at some of the world’s best restaurants, including Michelin starred chef John Burton Race at L’Ortolan and at Noma in Copenhagen.
His unusual approach to this year’s brief sees him create some unique dishes, with a menu honouring the campaigning history, spirit and passion of the WI.
