Once known as 'Slope Road' the steep path connecting the Leas to Lower Sandgate Road and the harbour was renamed.

It commemorates the soldiers who made their last journey on British soil down it.

  • ‘It seems so strange to me how it’s all still there – still going on.’

  • The cemetery contains 471 First World War burials. Over 300 of these were for Canadian soldiers.
