From 1915 Folkestone harbour became a major embarkation point for troops going to France.

  • Once known as 'Slope Road' the steep path connecting the Leas to Lower Sandgate Road and the harbour was renamed.
  • 'We are gathered here today to remember those who have given their lives for us'
  • The cemetery contains 471 First World War burials. Over 300 of these were for Canadian soldiers.
