Edinburgh Festival celebrates brilliant Bowie

From passionate cover versions, Bowie-inspired cabaret acts, book festival talks and a rousing Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo finale, the work of the late David Bowie is being recreated and celebrated at this year’s various festivals. Although it’s seven months since his death, the singer feels more present than ever. And in Edinburgh, there was no escaping the influence of the Thin White Duke.

Here is just a taste of some of the festival performances which have been inspired by David Bowie. Let’s dance.

More than 1200 performers feature at this summer’s Royal Edinburgh Military which runs until 27 August and will be broadcast in all its splendour on BBC One on Monday 29 August at 19:00.
