Can I use Biggest Weekend Fringe branding on an existing night?
Yes, existing events taking place between Friday 18th- Monday 28th May 2018 can be run as a Fringe event. However, before it can be listed and considered part of the Fringe, the Fringe Partner sign up process must be followed to ensure the BBC Terms and Conditions and relevant checks have been carried out.
Can I print the logo?
The logo must be used as described in the Branding Guidelines. The logo can be printed on paper, but not be used to create any physical branding assets to include banners, lightboxes and pull ups.
Can I run more than one event?
Yes. There is no limit to how many events are produced, providing the standard and quality of these events upholds the BBC Values.
Does my event need to be music focused?
The Biggest Weekend is a celebration of live music so we ask that Fringe events represent a diverse mix of music genres and styles.
If I'm a musician can I put on a night?
Yes, you can run your own night or event providing it is fully compliant with the law and BBC Terms and Conditions.
Can I run an event for under 18s?
Yes, you may run events for any age range providing their welfare is always catered for. A challenge 25 policy must be in place when serving alcohol for any event if under 18s are in attendance. Responsibility of the audience management falls with the Fringe Partner.
Can I host a gig in my home?
Fringe Partners are responsible for ensuring their event is fully compliant and in possession of the relevant insurances and documentation. Public Liability Insurance should be considered and a Temporary Events Notice may need to be applied for. More information on public liability insurance and temporary events notices can be found here.
Do I need a licence to put on an event?
It is the organiser’s responsibility to check whether a licence is required as it depends on several conditions. More information on license requirements can be found here.
Most venues will have the relevant licencing in place, however the Fringe Partner has a duty to check. You can apply for a TEN (Temporary Events Notice) should one be necessary. More information about Temporary Events Notices can be found here.
Do I need to have public liability event insurance?
It is not a legal requirement but is heavily advised for any events involving the public. We advise all Fringe Partners have Public Liability Insurance in place.
How much can I charge for my event?
Fringe Partners can set their own ticket fees, but they should in line with the current market rates. Any inflated fees will be flagged to the BBC and the event risks breaching the Terms and Conditions. Ticket revenues must be appropriately handled by the Fringe Partner ensuring the relevant taxes are paid.
Is Skiddle free to use?
Skiddle is free for Fringe Partners to list events. If Fringe Partners choose to also use Skiddle as a ticketing supplier for their event there is a cost to the customer purchasing tickets. Booking fees are as set at 10% of the ticket price, plus a 25p charge with a minimum of £1. There is a Rapidscan fee which is 50p per order and is only incurred when tickets are priced over £10. There are no charges to the venue or promoters unless they choose to select to cover the booking fees on behalf of the customer.
I have my own ticketing provider; do I need to use Skiddle?
No, you do not need to use Skiddle to handle the ticketing if you already have a supplier, however you must list your event on the Skiddle Fringe pages. This enables us to provide a comprehensive list of events all in one place.
I haven’t received my welcome email containing the Fringe logo and Skiddle information.
The BBC reviews every submission to be a Fringe Partner. This process can take a couple of days. Not all submissions will be successful as the BBC does specify certain terms and standards which must be met. The volume of submissions may also delay this process.
Why can’t I see my event on the Skiddle Pages?
The BBC is launching the Skiddle Fringe pages on Friday 16th March. Events that have been uploaded prior to this date will not be visible. Events may also not be listed on the main Skiddle pages if they are in breach of the Terms and Conditions.
I have a problem with my listing on Skiddle.
Please refer to Skiddle’s FAQs here for any issues with listing and ticketing Fringe events. You can call the Skiddle Account Support team during Monday to Friday 9am - 6pm on 033 33 010301.
