'My wife suffer serious pain for belle before her death' - Husband tok on di last days of im wife wey doctors forget scissors inside her belle

Aishatu Umar, one Nigerian woman, die afta dem allegedly forget one scissors inside her belle during surgery for Abubakar Imam Urology Hospital for Kano State, northern Nigeria, her husband tell BBC News Pidgin.

Abubakar Mohammed, husband of di deceased, tell BBC News Pidgin say im wife suffer serious belle pain for months after di surgery wey dem do for Imam Urology Centre hospital for September 2025.

Mohammed say di pain kontinu for about four months before dem finally do medical tests and scans for Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, just few days before she die.

Di results, dem claim, show say one surgical object still dey inside her body from di September operation.

"She do surgery for Abubakar Imam Urology Centre for September. After dat, she dey complain of serious belle pain under her stomach for months," Mohammed tok.

"Na just two days ago, wen di pain too much reach say she no fit bear am again, we decide go Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, wia dem do scan, na so doctors discover scissors inside her body."

"She just dey manage di pain, until last week Friday, wen di matter worsen, she no fit bear di pain again, we rush her go emergency."

Im add say dem lose her even before di surgery start.

"Dem rush do emergency surgery to remove am, but unfortunately we lose her. Di surgery neva even start. As dem carry her enta theatre, she die," Mohammed tok.

E describe im wife as one very good woman wey any husband go wish to get.

"She na good woman, and anybody wey relate wit her go testify to dat. Wetin I go miss pass about my wife na say she be very lovely woman, caring wife, kind wife wey anybody go like to have," im tok.

Mohammed believe say di death dey avoidable if to say proper medical attention and investigation dey.

"I believe say wit proper medical attention, my wife for still dey alive. Na why I dey call on govment make dem do more for medical care, so make dis kain tin no happun to anoda person for future."

Already, di Kano State govment don announce di immediate suspension of three personnel wey involve directly for di case from clinical duties.

Dis one come from statement wey Samira Suleiman, Public Relations Officer of Kano State Hospitals Management Board, release on Tuesday.

Di board also refer di matter go Kano State Medical Ethics Committee for further investigation and disciplinary action in line wit professional standards and di law.

"Kano State Hospitals Management Board dey extend im deepest condolences to di family of late Aishatu Umar and sympathise wit dem over dis painful loss. We dey assure di public say negligence no go be tolerated in any form," di statement tok.

"Di Board wan inform di general public say after preliminary and transparent investigation wey di Executive Secretary, Dr Mansur Mudi Nagoda, order, di Board don confirm say di unfortunate incident involving late Aishatu Umar actually happun for Abubakar Imam Urology Centre."
