Lagos lawmakers re-elect Obasa as Speaker as Meranda resign

Di lawmakers for Lagos State House of Assembly don re-elect Mudashiru Obasa wey dey represent Agege Constituency I as Speaker afta Mojisola Meranda resign on Monday 3 March.

Meranda wey dey represent Apapa Constituency I bin announce her resignation on Monday and lawmakers re-elect her as di Deputy Speaker of di Lagos State House of Assembly.

Obasa re-election follow di nomination by one former Majority Leader of di House, Noheem Adams, wey dey represents Eti-Osa Constituency 1.

Di Agege lawmaker bin take oath of office as di new Speaker of di Lagos State House of Assembly seven weeks afta im removal from office on 13 January.

Dem bin remove Obasa sake of allegations of gross misconduct, poor leadership, mismanagement of funds and corruption.

Afta Obasa removal, di majority of di lawmakers bin elect and swear-in Madam Meranda as di new Speaker.

Dem first elect Obasa into di House for 2007 and e become Speaker for June 2015 bifor im removal for January 2025.
