What do you think of big cars?

In the UK and across Europe, cars are steadily becoming longer, wider and heavier - something critics call "carspreading".

In October this year, Cardiff became the first UK council to approve higher parking charges for heavier vehicles.

The council says it's because they typically produce more emissions than smaller cars and can make the roads more unsafe for other road users, including those walking and cycling.

But others say this isn't fair and that they need to have a big car because of their job or bigger family.

Ricky's been looking into the issue and speaking to some kids from the campaign group Solve the School Run to find out what they have to say about it.
