Who do you think writes the best songs?

You may know Olivia Dean and Lola Young for their incredible singing voices, but they've all been recognised for their skills as songwriters, too.

The Ivor Novello Awards celebrate songwriting talent from around the UK and Ireland, and will be taking place in London on 21 May.

Other nominees this year include Wolf Alice, CMAT, Myles Smith and Little Simz.

But who is your favourite of them all? Are there any particularly good lyrics you like from any of them? Let us know in the comments below.

The awards recognise talented songwriters across music, television and film.

Lola Young is up for her fourth Ivor nomination, after getting three last year.

But it's the first time Olivia Dean is up for two - she's nominated for 'best album' and 'most performed work', which is the award for the song that's been played the most since last year.

Irish star CMAT is also up for best album.

Roberto Neri, chief executive of The Ivors Academy, says this year's nominations reflect the "strength, diversity and global influence" of British and Irish songwriting.

"An Ivor Novello Award has for over 70 years been the most prestigious recognition of excellence in music and I'd like to thank our judges for working hard to recognise this year's nominees," he added.
