อันดับแรก เมื่อถึงคิวสั่งอาหาร พนักงานจะถามว่า เราต้องการอะไรนะคะ 

Sian
Yes, can you remember what they said? Let's listen again to find out.

Yes, you'll probably hear 'what can I get you'? Or they may say 'who's next?'

Clare
ถ้าได้ยินว่า ‘who’s next?’ ก็แปลว่า ‘ใครเป็นลูกค้าคนต่อไป’ ค่ะ

Sian
Now, it's time to order. You can say 'Can I have…' and then give your order.

Let's practise the pronunciation of that! Repeat after me: 'Can I have…'

หากว่าสิ่งที่สั่งเป็นรูปเอกพจน์ที่นับได้ ก็ต้องเติม ‘a’ ด้วยนะคะ หรือหากคำนั้นขึ้นต้นด้วยเสียงสระ ก็ต้องเป็น ‘an’

Sian
That's right. Careful with pronunciation – so we say 'uh' and 'un'. So, 'Can I have a green tea?' 'Can I have an orange juice?' And remember to be polite, so what word do we need to add? That's right – It's please.

และอย่าลืมเรื่องการใช้เสียงสูงต่ำด้วยนะคะ ฟังชานและออกเสียงตามเลยค่ะ

Repeat after me:
Can I have a green tea please?

Clare
ต่อไป ก็อาจจะได้ยินคำถามนี้นะคะ

Take away or have here?
แปลว่า ต้องการรับประทานอาหารหรือดื่มเครื่องดื่มที่ร้าน หรือนำกลับค่ะ

Sian
Yes and you can just say 'have here please' if you want to stay. Or, 'take away please' if you want to take it out of the café. Don't forget 'please'.

สุดท้าย ก็อาจจะได้ยินคำถามว่า ‘anything else?’

Sian
That's right – this is short for 'do you want to buy anything else'?

Clare
ใช่ค่ะ คือพนักงานต้องการทราบว่าเราจะสั่งอะไรเพิ่มไหมนั่นเองค่ะ

Sian
If you don't want anything, just say 'that's all thanks'. Let's practise. Repeat after me: That's all thanks.
