ఇవాల్టి ఎపిసోడ్‌లో మనం మనుషుల ఆకారం, రూపు గురించి ఇంగ్లిష్‌లో ఎలా వివరించాలో తెలుసుకుందాం. ఇక్కడ, ఇద్దరు వ్యక్తులు అమ్మ గురించి, బాయ్‌ఫ్రెండ్ గురించి మాట్లాడుకుంటున్నారు. అంతా విన్నాక ఈ ప్రశ్నకు జవాబు ఇవ్వండి: ఎవరికి బంగారు రంగు జుత్తుంది?

Speaker 1: What does your boyfriend look like?
Speaker 2: He's tall and has short, blonde hair.

Speaker 1: What does your mother look like?
Speaker 2: She's quite short and has long, dark hair.

OK! ‘Look like’..ఈ రెండూ ఇక్కడ ముఖ్యమైన పదాలు. ఇవి వాడితే ఒకరి ఆకారం, రూపం గురించి మనం చెప్తున్నాం అని తెలుస్తుంది. సరే, రూపం గురించి ఎలా అడిగారు? గమనించారా? వాళ్లు ‘do’ వాడారా, ‘does’ వాడారా?

‘What does your boyfriend look like?’

‘What does your mother look like?’

విన్నారా? ఇక్కడ ‘does’ అని ‘do’ కు third person form వాడారు. మనం ‘he’, ‘she’ or ‘it’ ల గురించి ప్రశ్నలడిగినప్పుడు, ఎప్పుడూ ‘does’ అనే వాడాలి. Tom, ఈ ప్రశ్నల్లోన్ని ఉచ్చారణ ఆసక్తికరంగా ఉంది. దాని గురించి వివరించగలరా?

Of course! Let’s work backwards to help with our rhythm. Repeat after me:

‘does your’

‘What does your’

Now let’s make it complete! Let’s add ‘mother’ and ‘look like’. ‘Mother’ and ‘look’ have strong stress.

‘What does your mother look like?’

Nice work! ఈ ప్రశ్నలకు జవాబులు చెప్పినప్పుడు ‘be’ forms గానీ ‘have’ గానీ వాడాలి. జవాబులో ఏ రకమైన ‘be’ form వాడారు? మీకు గుర్తుందా?

‘He's tall and has short, blonde hair.’

‘She's quite short and has long, dark hair.’

They say ‘he’s’ or ‘she’s’. The speakers are using the short form of ‘is’.

ఇక్కడ ‘is’ అనే ‘be’ form వాడిన తరువాత, ఆ వ్యక్తి కొలతల గురించి చెప్పారు...పొడుగు, పొట్టి..ఇలాగన్నమాట. కొలతల గురించే కాకుండా వయసు, ఆకృతి లాంటి వాటి గురించి కూడా చెప్పొచ్చు. అంతేకాకుండా ‘is’ తరువాత ఆ వ్యక్తి గురించి మన అభిప్రాయం కూడా చెప్పొచ్చు.

The first speaker says ‘he’s tall’. The second speaker says ‘she’s quite short’.

That’s right! ‘Tall’ అనేది ‘short’ కు వ్యతిరేకం. ‘Quite’ అంటే ‘not very’ అని అర్థం. When we say ‘quite short’, we make the describing word, short, less strong. పొట్టే కానీ మరీ ఎక్కువ పొట్టి కాదు అని చెప్పడానికి ‘quite short’ అని వాడొచ్చు.

That’s not all! ఇంకా ఒడ్డుపొడుగు, జుత్తు రంగు, కనుపాపల రంగు లాంటి ముఖకవళికల గురించి చెప్పడానికి ‘have’ వాడతాం. ఇందాక ‘have’ వాడుతూ ఏం చెప్పారో మళ్లీ విందాం.

‘He's tall and has short, blonde hair.’

‘She's quite short and has long, dark hair.’

ఇక్కడ జుత్తు గురించి చెప్పడానికి ‘have’ వాడారు. మనం he, she or it ల కు ‘have’ కు మరో రూపం అయిన ‘has’ వాడతాం. ఇక్కడ ‘hair’ కు ముందు ‘a’ వాడకూడదు, గమనించండి. ‘A hair’ అని అంటే ఒక్క వెంట్రుక అని అర్థం వస్తుంది.

ఇక్కడ ఈమె చాలా ఉద్వేగంగా ఉన్నారు. ఆమె సంతోషానికి కారణం ఏమిటో విందాం. తను ఎవరి గురించి మాట్లాడుతున్నారు?

Wow! A boyfriend! 'మీ బాయ్‌ఫ్రెండ్ ఎలా ఉంటారు?' అని ఇంగ్లిష్‌లో ఎలా అడుగుతారో చెప్పండి.

What does your boyfriend look like? You could also say ‘what does he look like’?

ఇప్పుడు ఈ ప్రశ్నకు జవాబు మీరు చెప్పండి.

‘What does your best friend look like?’

‘ఆమె మరీ అంత పొట్టి కాదు, తనకు పొడుగు జుత్తుంది’ అని ఎలా చెప్తారు?

‘She’s quite short and has long hair.’

Well done! ‘Quite’ అంటే కొంచం అని అర్థం. గుర్తుంచుకోండి.
