ਅੱਜ ਅਸੀਂ ਤਲਾਕ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ। ਤਾਂ ਚਲੋ ਇਸ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਇੱਕ ਸੁਆਲ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ ਦੇ Office of National Statistics ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਲੋਕ ਤਲਾਕ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਔਸਤਨ ਉਮਰ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਕੁ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

• 30-34 ਸਾਲ
• 35-39 ਜਾਂ ਫ਼ਿਰ
• 40-44 ਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ
ਫ਼ਿਲ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੀ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਹੋ?

I think it takes time for people to want to get divorced – I’ll go for c) 40-44.

Sam
Maybe people realise they made a mistake more quickly, so it could be a) 30-34 I don’t really know.

Ok, keep listening, I’ll give you the answer later. ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸ ਸਭ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੋਚ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ,ਚਲੋ ਅਸੀਂ Outlook ਵਿੱਚ ਛਪੇ ਇੱਕ ਲੇਖ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਕਿ BBC World Service ਦੀ ਤਲਾਕ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਇੱਕ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਉੱਪਰ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਹੈ। Christine Gallagher ਆਪਣੇ ਇੱਕ ਦੋਸਤ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤਲਾਕ ਲੈਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਪਸੰਦੀਦਾ ਹਟਿੰਗ ਟਰਾਫ਼ੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੋਲ ਰੱਖ ਲਈ।

And we had an outdoor party for her with a big bonfire and we ended up burning this guys’ hunting trophy on the fire, which for her was kind of an exorcism of the marriage and the sadness that had fallen upon her life. So as a result of that, I really started thinking this is great, we were able to take her from a state of devastation to sort of drawing a line and being over it.

I like the idea – like Christine said in the clip, it sounds like a really good way to draw a line under everything.

‘Draw a line under’ ਮਤਲਬ ਲੀਕ ਖਿੱਚਣਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਕਰਨਾ। ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ ਜਾਂ ਝਗੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਿਤੇ ਨਾ ਕਿਤੇ ਤਾਂ ਲੀਕ ਖਿੱਚਣੀ ਹੀ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਾ ਸਕੋ। ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਕਸਰ ਲੋਕ ਤਲਾਕ ਲੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਕੁਝ ਸਮਾਂ ਦੁਚਿੱਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

I can sort of see that drawing a line‘s important… but isn’t this a bit of strange idea for a party. Isn’t there a danger that it could trigger a lot of bad feelings, bringing up all the memories of why someone wanted to get divorced?

‘Trigger’ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਅਹਿਸਾਸ ਜੋ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਮਾੜੀਆਂ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਅਤੇ ਪਰੇਸ਼ਾਨ ਕਰੇ। ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ ਟੁੱਟਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਕਈ ਯਾਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਾਰ-ਵਾਰ ਆਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਹਾਂ ਠੀਕ ਪਰੇਸ਼ਾਨ ਵੀ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਹਨ।

Surely a party about a relationship that’s ended, probably for a bad reason, is going to trigger a lot of bad feelings and hurt.

Sam
I’m not so sure, you know… Closure is really important after something like a divorce.

ਰਾਜਵੀਰ
‘Closure’ ਮਤਲਬ ਬੰਦ ਕਰਨਾ। - do you think that’s the most important thing to recover from a traumatic event?

Phil
Does a party really give you closure, isn’t it a bit too much of a celebration?

Sam
I think it does give you closure, it marks the end of something and allows you to move on.

‘Move on’ ਯਾਨੀ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਣਾ। ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਵਾਪਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਭੁੱਲ ਭਲਾ ਕੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਵੱਧਣਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ। ਵੇਸੇ ਵੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਤੁਰਦੀ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਸੋ ਭਲਾਈ ਏਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਵੀ ਬੀਤੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾੜਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਭੁੱਲ ਕੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧੀਏ।

I always thought that time was better for moving on from something, not spending lots of money on a party.

Sam
It means you can focus on it – you can focus on all the things around a divorce, or any other life event and try and find the positives… even something like divorce can have positive sides, you know.

ਖ਼ੈਰ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਤਾ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦੋਨੋਂ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨਾਲ ਸਹਿਮਤ ਹੋਵੋਗੇ ਜਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਚਲੋ ਆਪਾਂ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਵੱਲ ਚਲਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਸੀ। ਅਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸੀ ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਲਾਕ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕ ਔਸਤਨ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਕੁ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ...ਜੁਆਬ ਹੈ 40 ਤੋਂ 44 ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ।
