ਅੱਜ ਅਸੀਂ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਚੰਗਾ ਬੌਸ ਬਣਾਉਦੀ ਹੈ। ਬੌਸ ਕੰਮ ਦਾ ਨਾ-ਨਜ਼ਰਅੰਦਾਜ਼ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤੱਥ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਕਿੱਤਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੋਕ ਖੁਸ਼ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਭਾਂਵੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਬੌਸ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਜਾਂ ਨਾ। The Guardian ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਅੱਜ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ: ਕਿਹੜੀ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹਨ?

Some people like looking after others, Phil! ਇਸਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਿ ਆਪਾਂ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਚਰਚਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰੀਏ CNN ਦੁਆਰਾ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ, ਇੱਕ ਖੋਜ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਦੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਚੰਗੇ ਬੌਸ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੁਣਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਅਸੀਂ ਪੁੱਛੇ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਦਾ ਜੁਆਬ ਤੁਹਨੂੰ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹਾਂ।

We all know bad bosses exist. You can easily list all the qualities a bad boss has without having to think too much. But what makes a good boss?
To find out, a survey asked employees about the best bosses they've had and what characteristics they hoped to see in the people they work for. What makes a good boss can't be summarised into one or two words. However, all of the qualities employees talked about related to one thing - showing respect. This was a characteristic that many workers valued regardless of what industry they were in.

I completely agree! If my boss wants me to respect them, they have to respect me, as well.

Tom
Yeah, I actually agree with you, Phil. I think there has to be some give and take.

'Give and take' ਮਤਲਬ ਲੈਣ-ਦੇਣ। So you want them to listen to your ideas?

Tom
Yeah, give and take’s about a lot of things. And I also want them to listen to my concerns.

Yes, you need to feel comfortable talking to your boss if you have concerns. Concerns ਜਾਣੀ ਜੋ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ ਹਨ।

I don’t know. I don’t need my boss to be my friend. I need them to be my boss. I want them to be competent at their job.

ਰਾਜਵੀਰ
'Competent' ਮਤਲਬ ਕਾਬਲ ਜਾਂ ਸਮਰੱਥ । Feeling comfortable talking to your boss isn’t that important to you, Phil?

Phil
Not really. It’s more important that they’re competent.

Tom
Ok, so you want a boss who’s competent. But what about flexibility?

'Flexibility' ਭਾਵ ਲਚਕਤਾ। Why do you ask, Tom?

Tom
Well, because if my boss shows flexibility, then it tells me that they trust me. And that’s really important for me if I’m going to be happy with what I do.

ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸੀ। ਚਲੋ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਪੁੱਛੇ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਵੱਲ ਚਲਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਹੈ? ਕੀ ਇਹ ਹੈ?

ਜੁਆਬ ਹੈ ਇੰਜੀਨੀਅਰਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਹੈ ਇਸਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਨਰਸਾਂ।

You know what I find interesting about that list?

Phil
That those jobs are all quite independent. Engineers work on projects, teachers with students, nurses with patients….

But they don’t spend a lot of time with their bosses?

Phil
Precisely. That’s why they’re so happy!

Tom
But they still have bosses! I mean, maybe, because their bosses do a similar kind of work to them, they lead by example, and that makes for happier employees…

ਰਾਜਵੀਰ
'Lead by example' ਮਤਲਬ ਉਦਾਹਰਨ ਬਣਕੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਉਣਾ ਜਾਂ ਉਦਾਹਰਨ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਨਾ। । Yes, that way it feels more like a team, perhaps.

Uhm, that is a very interesting opinion, Phil!

Yes, Phil. Last time I checked, you weren’t our boss! ਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੀ? ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੀ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਹੋ ਚੰਗੇ ਬੌਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਗੁਣ ਹੋਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ?ਕੀ give and take ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ? ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਬੌਸ lead by examples ਕਰੇ। ਤੇ ਅਗਲੇ ਹਫ਼ਤੇ ਵੱਲ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਚਲੋ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜ੍ਹਿਨਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਸਭ ਬੌਸ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਸਨ। 'give and take' ਲੈਣ-ਦੇਣ, 'competent' ਕਾਬਲ ਜਾਂ ਸਮਰੱਥ, 'flexibility' ਮਤਬਲ ਲੱਚਕਤਾ and 'lead by example'  ਉਦਾਹਰਨ ਬਣਕੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਉਣਾ ਜਾਂ ਉਦਾਹਰਨ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਨਾ। ਅੱਜ ਲਈ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਹੀ।
