Certain. Let's learn about this word.
Certain is an adjective - a describing word.
It's like sure, but stronger.
We use certain to say that we are a hundred percent sure about something.
I am certain that Tuesday is the day before Wednesday.
We can also say 'for certain'. This means the same as 'definitely'.
Tuesday comes before Wednesday, for certain.
We can be certain about something, too.
I am certain about the length of this video. It's one minute long.
We can also use certain to mention something or someone specific, without giving exact details.
Hello? Boss? For certain personal reasons I can't come to work today.
Certain foods are easier to buy than others.

- I am certain that Tuesday is the day before Wednesday.
- The boss told me he is certain that Friday's meeting will be cancelled.
We can also use certain to mention something or someone specific, without giving exact details.
