About the contributor

My father was writing his memoirs during the 1990’s when he suffered a stroke. He could no longer write so my mother suggested he continue the story by making a tape recording. I transcribed these tapes in 2004. Here I have only included extracts that relate directly to World War Two. He also tells of his childhood in Egypt during the 1920’s and 1930’s, and life in India during and after the war. He died in 2000.
