| We've been having a bit of a burst on audio-diaries. The first to be commissioned were broadcast on BBC Radio Derby's Mid-Morning show, and you can hear them here on the website if you missed them! |
They were done by Martin Crowder, who is deputy headteacher at St Martin's School, and Becca Gough, who's the newest recruit to the English Department. So if you want the inside story on teaching today - and in a special school at that, lend them an ear.

We'll be following those two pioneers with diaries from the Community Bobby-on-the-Beat for the area, and from a young man who's currently living in the YMCA, becoming a master of computer arts and extreme sports, and has offered to show us Alvaston through his eyes. More too...but I won't pre-empt!
Now, though, might be a good moment to mention that there will be a whole week of "Voices" features on the Andy Whittaker's Breakfast Show from Monday May 12th between 8 - 8.30am.
Meanwhile, we've commissioned a willing expert from the Rolls Royce camera club to create his own contemporary archive on Alvaston. He'll not only have a keen photographer's take on it - but is a resident himself, so knows what's what. You'll be able to see the results on the website shortly.
You could be seeing your own photos too, if you decide to enter our photography competition. Simply take a snap of your neighbours, and tell us, in a line ot two, what it's like to live next door to them, and you could be the winner of the latest model of digital camera.

Watch out, too for lots of information on ADD or Attention Deficit Disorder - often a factor in the learning difficulties children at St Martins experience.
Shane O'Connor will be interviewing Andy Hayes, who is something of an expert in the field, not least because both he and his son Chris have to contend with it.
Andy's award-winning website is www.hi2u.org
