Episode discussion for week starting 23 April

Ahhh, looking like a entertaining week ;)

cant wait for the phil/shirley/derek stuff. that preview for tonight is interesting in itself that phil knows derek is using shirley to get at him so the fact that phil reacts to it means its something that bothers him and he knows he cant have shirley back as it would mean she could find out ben killed heather. he wouldnt have her back if she didnt mean anything to him as he wouldnt be so stupid to risk ben's freedom over something so petty. i'm surprised they aren't gonna tell roxy to go to stop her finding out aswell.

I am looking forward to Carol getting 'shouty' again. The square isn't right if Carol isn't shouting at someone. I am so glad they brought her back. I had almost forgotten how much I loved the grumpy matriarch of the Jackson family. She is like Lou Beale-Lite.



As a sidenote, I want to say that we should get a petition up to get our blogger 'nickie' a walk-on part, just so nickie can return to us with some gossip and news for the sites loyal fans. Maybe nickie could order a muffin in the cafe, or step on Dereks foot or something.

i LOVED that episode. i thought it was so clear that phil loves shirley JUST AS MUCH as he did sharon and kathy!!!!!!(maybe even more? cos he's never hit shirley) when she mentioned them and asked him if he ever loved her he couldn't even say no. the silence between them in the pub. the way he looked so sad at the start. ooh shirley is gonna get her happy ending and i cant wait !!

Why o why is the story line about Heather death going on and on in my opinion the person ie "Ben" should have been killed off and not Heather, the sooner Shirley find ouit it was Ben and get him put away the better Bye Bye Ben, his character is of a nastry, smirky boy of one your wish to give a slap to noy nice to portray to other if people think they can get away with is behaviour other will follow

i noticed phil nearly slipped up when he was telling shirley that he was gonna dump her. "hev stole my thunder" but phil was out of prison before shirley knew heather died. phil wasn't supposed to know first so if he was gonna dump her he shouldve done it as soon as he came out. infact he told her in the prison that if she wanted to move on he'd understand.



if he was gonna dump her then he shouldn't have seen her in prison. he only saw her when he got beaten up he even said on the red button episode that she could wait till he got out. i think maybe when he found out she lied to him about ben that he was gonna dump her then but when he got beaten up things changed but why not mention about her lying to him as a way to dump her. his argument on friday was ridiculous and not enough to dump her



we know her being there for the boys is crap cos he didnt want to dump her. he only dumped her cos ben told him to. plus they were together for months before she moved in back in 2010.

monalisa - we all know that Phil was just using any old excuse to dump Shirly. We can all see that he never wanted to dump her. All the stuff about Phil being out of prison before Shirly knew about Heather's death doesn't matter because Phil dumping Shirly is not about what he really wants. We all know that he was lying when he said to her that she was only there for the boys. We all know that Phil still loves her.

Both of the episodes this week have been awesome. Matt evans(who wrote that episode) is probably one of the best writers on the show.

I'm confused! Bianca and her children are living on the breadline whilst mum, Carol appears to be doing fine. She's living in the same house so why are things so hard for Bianca? Meanwhile, there are 3 further uncles living on the Square who could help.

tonights was amazing. i loved that final scene and how emotional phil looked. he could barely say a word. he loves her and they better get back together!

I love my Eastenders...we here in Toronto are just over a year behind...but I have family in UK, so I always look forward to what is coming up...I wish the show was on everynight for an HOUR instead of 30 mins. I think the characters are well played and look forward to their next lot of shenanagins....

How come Bianca has never heard of Income Support and Tax Credits, does the person writing the script understand that no-one is that badly off in today's benefit cultured society.

Why haven't the script writers advertised debt counselling services after recent episodes leading up to Biancas debt crisis? There must be thousands of people who need help in managing their financial affairs, especially in the current economic state of our Country?

High I think it is time eastenders script writers started more helpful to the thousands of young couples and single parents who are currently being roped in to loan sharks jaws like Bianca. please start informing these gullable people that there's nothing to be frightened of with the civil courts in this country quite the contrary tell the door step collectors you'll see them in court. 1 if they keep harrassing them let them take them to court 1st thing is this will stop all further interest and charges. the courts will be sypathetic to them and may in fact write of the debt or reduce their payments without further costs Please Show them be realistic. When it comes to explosions fires car crashes etc no amount of money matters

I felt sick after Fridays episode & its blatant advertising of abortion via Derek. I was raped as a child & soaps like this encouraged me that abortion was 'nothing'. Before my child was even cold I knew abortion was wrong & live knowing I'm her killer. Being a killer & Mum to a dead child, is much worse than being raped. I hate the way eastenders makes light of killing children. I had already gone off Lucy & Ian, now Derek too. Please get some writers in that care more about people than the economy. The writers need to remember that young vulnerable minds are watching this & encouraging them to ignore unborn children is criminal. A lot of girls/women watching have interpreted via such as eastenders, that abortion is acceptable if having a child would inconvenience you. It's not, the law still says only if the mother/childs health would suffer greater than having the child. We know, that's not going to be the 250,000+ known abortions done each year- is it. The fact people truly believe going alcohol free or missing their nail appointment counts as 'suffer greater harm', shows how sick people have become. This soap has a lot to answer for! A child is a child, no matter how small. Why don't poor people just go on the benefits they are entitled to & stop encouraging there to be a social stigma to that.

If it's the usual boring scenario, then Derek owns the money lending company that Bianca used. Which would mean if he gives Carol money to 'help', he's just giving money to himself.

How do I complain about todays programme please? Eastenders continually promotes abortion. With its continued misleading rhetoric such as 'it' & biased anti-life/anti-fact blatant advertising is surely illegal! How do you keep getting away with it! Abortion is not entertainment & I think you should seek legal advice on your issue of unqualified persons constantly being seen to prescribe 'medical procedures'.

i dont see what the problem is? whitney is only young and carol was young too when she had bianca. its realistic to suggest abortion at that age. obviously carol turned it down and i think whitney wouldve done aswell. they have covered this issue before with stacey

The fact you don't see the problem, sadly is the problem! Yes I agree in the real world young girls do often have abortions, because they are told a baby will ruin their lives. What you fail to see is that the mum will not view a scan of her child before aborting them. And only later do they realise that they killed a fully formed human being. Humans are not meant to kill & if you later happen to truly realise what you did, it will screw you up. Much worse than if you had your child stay alive. Programmes like this encourage girls to see their unborn child wrongly as if mere goods that may be returned if they do not arrive on time or in the condition expected. But life is not like this, it would boring if it was. Life is challenges & encouraging young girls to shirk those challenges is doing them the worst dis-service of their life. Yes an education might be nice, but family is the reason most people want to work. It is ironic to tout abortion as helping your family, when in fact it kills them. If you can't do the job you want by having your family with you, then is that a 'good job'. It's time people told the employer to go stuff it, if they want a real human being doing the job they accept that humans were meant to have babies young & they must accommodate them. It makes me sick when people even consider killing their child to fit what others expect of them. To even consider the possibility a child could ruin your life, takes others putting that idea in your head. Who does that? Schools & then when they get home eastenders. Poor young girls literally have no escape from people trying to make them into work machines- man is not machine! And religious folk will demonise gay people, but ignore this; just thinking that those children will go to heaven- but what if this world is all they had!

Can someone from the set designers at the BBC explain to all the Greek & Greek Cypriots out there why it is that a TURKISH FLAG was on the wall of the new 'PAPADOPOULOS' takeaway. For years the Eastenders 'Dot' has been pronouncing this GREEK surname wrong....now the set designers have got it wrong, bit time, by insulting us all......

Disgusted! To the best of my knowledge Greece and Cyprus have not been totally taken over by Turkey. Who the hell do you get to do your sets? So far in your programme you have turned the name Papadopoulos into a joke since Dot can never pronounce it and now you have added insult to injury by having a Turkish flag and postcard in a Cafe suppossedly owned by another papadopoulos!! If I didn't know better I would say the BBC is being antihellenic!

After years of waiting for a Greek family or character to be written in to eastenders we finally get mr papadopollos family running a takeaway!!! To our surprise we find it filled with Turkish postcards!!! This is disgusting. And an insult to the Greek community!!!

So how long does it take?

I have already posted my complaint on tonights show on one of your other pages but I will say again that I am offended by the ignorance of the set designers and researchers of Eastenders for not realising that by putting a Turkish flag /postcard up on the wall of a kebab shop that is 'supposedly' owned and run by a Greek would be acceptable. I think the Greek Cypriot communities are owed an explanation.

When was the last time you ever saw anyone treated with respect in eastenders land? Slagging off those who can't defend themself is apparently soap sport. At least this guy has a voice, some are not so lucky!
