not many pictures on shirleys return :( but it sounds epic. i cant believe phil is scared of her. its hilarious !!!!

It's quite a good twist having Shirley have something to hold over Phil - otherwise their relationship would soon be a thing of the past and he wouldn't give her a second thought.



Looks quite a good week.

I was really hoping that with Lauren and Joey that we would have at least one happy relationship going on in Walford and that there was a happy ending to one couple but ..... (there hasn't been one stable relationship in the history of the show that has survived yet - thats not normal even in todays society)!

Why has the word 'cousin' never been used in the whole Lauren/Joey thing?? As in 'helloooo - she's your COUSIN'??!

@ Blackswan, they still might! I mean he still loves her, he's just trying to protect her. @ Charlotte-Blake-26 at the moment consanguineous relationships i.e. relationships between cousins are still legal.

Shelley i disagree phil was broken when shirley left. He worked in the vic and couldnt bear to go home. Yes hes missed ben too but shirley was apart of his family. Im genuinely shocked hes so scared of shirleys threats, he still loves her its why he "dumps"sharon. He pushed her up against the wall in august im sure he could do that now to keep shirley quiet, shes destroyed him

I'm not so sure Phil isn't over Shirley. I think he "dumps" Sharon to stop Shirley exposing their sham engagement, not because he cares what she thinks. I think it's possible seeing Sharon again has brought back to him what it feels like to really love and want a woman. Personally I don't want them to get back together though. Great chemistry - always have had - but Sharon deserves better which might just be Jack.



Either way though, I think Phil and Shirley are dead in the water. More interesting is whether Phil and Jay can rebuild their relationship.

lorraine newman the producer hinted in her interview that phil doesnt really know if he loves shirley or not and its a big case of not realizing till he's lost it. he's been acting really weird ever since ben AND shirley left. with both lexi and sharon. that whole "we're gonna speend the rest of our lives together" was just freaky. he clearly didnt mean it since he's "dumping" her



he loves shirley deep down. just doesnt "get" it yet. i think he's getting there though:) i agree though they might not be together for long if they do at all.

p.s him being scared of what she could do to him has been in his character for years. he never really "trusted" her. once he got to know her and she did some pretty bad stuff to him she really pushed him and did some of the most horrible things just to "get" him. when they got together he couldn't open up to her because of this. he started being more honest towards the end of last year but her lying to him just damaged it AGAIN. i honestly believe theyve dragged it out this long to get this with sharon.

Yes i agree seeing sharon again has brought that back hence why i think he will realize he loved shirley just in a different way. Steve mcfadden once said sharon was in phils soul and that shirley is the love of his life. I dont believe phil is in love with sharon now. He is lying to her about his true motives, he tells her not to believe a word shirley says yet he is scared of her himself. He breaks off the fake engagement he blames jack (her boyfriend) and threatens him.

Yes there cousins but its not like they grew up together. Derek needs to back off and Lucy need to get lost!!!! Joey and Lauren are so good and cute together and they should be aloud to be together! I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope they get back together. If you want a good christmas storyline can it just be a happy one for once,Joey and Lauren should be happy together :) !!!!!!! Do a stupid sad shocking storyline for phil or derek LOL, and forget the stupid one about Joey and Lauren being brother and sister.. I think thats pathetic. - i will actually be happy if Joey and Lauren get back together soon, there actually amazing together.

i really hoped that Joey and Lauren stayed together! Even though they are Cousins its Drama! Lauren really loves him and that is Cruel Flirting/Kissing in front of her! Cant they just leave joey and Lauren to have a happy relation ship!

I think that "forbidden fruit" element in Joey and Lauren's romance only makes them want each other more. And their parents being so meddling doesn't help the matter. Well, Tanya did get her slap so she is being a little quieter now, but Derek meddles twice as much.:) And Monalisa, I don't think Phil is scared of Shirley, he actually feels guilty. When Ben murdered Heather, his number one priority was not to let his son to go to prison and he was just doing everything to protect him. But now, when Ben is in prison anyway, he actually had time to stop and think about what he has done. And that's why he tries to make up with Jay and is willing to do whatever Shirley tells him to do.

@ Charlotte-Blake-26 I know! I just think it's a tricky area. I don't think anyone really understands it. All we're sure about is that incest is illegal and I think there's a tendency to just use that word even though it isn't correct and every country has their different laws and definition about what incest is!

joey would rather die then worship derek and call him dad but you can see hes starting to regret it. i think lauren may kill derek because lauren said "i can't live without joey" once joey or tanya reveals to lauren that derek is standing in her way of being together i think lauren isn't gonna hesitate of getting rid of derek but can't help to think if lauren does someone has to go to prison lauren or joey? like stacey or bradley but they didn't go prison. ps don't they they are going to be together this year but never know about the future?

Ben gets 4 years in prison and Jay gets commuinty service, so glad jay isn't going to prison i love him but i am sad ben is going for 4 years i bet phil will be really upset. its so cute that jay and phil hug maybe they will be friends again and it will be a happily ever after for jay!

I'm starting to get really confused as to whether Joey loves lauren or not. Is he only breaking up with her coz he doesn't want to get her in trouble, and if that's the case, they could hav just pretended to Derek they aren't together. Why can't Derek just leave them alone? Does he somehow think that if Joey isn't with Lauren then Joey will hav forgiven everything? Really hope Lauren and Joey gets back together.they hav only just known each other for a few months and they r so not going to hav kids anyway

@ eastendersfan well, yes, there is always that element of risk but as you see in that link I've posted, scientists have discovered that the risk is less than they thought. There is a regression gene but that's not caused by a cousin-cousin reunion, you've either got that or you haven't.

... But who knows. if they find more evidence to the contrary, it could be illegal in the future. It depends on what they find doesn't it?

Like it or not, he has to be wary of what she may or may not do now but let's not confuse fear for love. He's never really loved Shirley and never will in my opinion.

& i dont compare fear to love. Its because phil gives into shirls demands and doesnt go out of his way to hurt her, he doesnt use emotional blackmail or anything like hes done before. I was swapping dms on twitter with a storyline producer & they told me he does love ber like family and that theres a lot of complications its a deep love that he probably will never know why. He prefers sharon & untill he gets over that he will never be able to committ to anyone else
