As for Leo, I must say if a patient turned to me as uptight, I would be really worried. He has reached breaking point. He is bounf to fall off the waggon. But I do not believe this has to do wiith his vampire nature.

One does not get to the point of addiction without having inside something broken by life...



OK, I admit. I must have a very shallow heart. I love Mitchell, but Hal is plainly tragic... and very attractive!

That's obviously why Leo changed beds. Noticed that he started off in the bed with the white headboard but when he was dying he was in bed with wooden headboard. Originally thought - oh there goes a continuity slip. Wrong - Pearl changed his bed and he just got back in the one nearest the door! How could I have doubted? :-)

like salt AND pepper, coffee AND croissant, fish AND chips , but no mushy peas which means tragic, attractive but not coarse. And our Hal is not coarse at all. Eating half a budgie's head off? glad Hal is not allergic to feathers...

Oh God, it's that horrendous "comedy music" again. American shows are full of that, we don't need it here! Liked the scene, just not the music.

28- Black Books is a comedy from ten years ago. Set in a book shop, very surreal but very funny.

Thanks Ewan for a better link. I must confess I did not know who Joe Pasquale was, so I checked him out on YT - good heavens! And the jeans fixation is classic, who hasn't wanted to do the same. I'm going to miss Leo, we just got to know him, and love him, and poof he's gone

One of the stand out comedy moments in the earlier series, is the 'moving The Real Hustle' scene. Is there music there to underscore the humour? No. Is it necessary? Not really. Do Americans need comedy music to know that this is a comedy scene? Do Americans expect this in their shows, as Saint infers?



(52: It seems odd, Saint, to say "you should be pleased" in the same post as "you are entitled to your opinion".)



RealMitchell has previously said that she felt the music played against George's death scene, making it less emotional for her. Does anyone have a reason/ insight why "A Wonderful Thing" (the theme that accompanies Nina telephoning George to tell him she's left, Lauren's death and, of course, Mitchell's death) was not used at this point? It's such an emotional piece of music and, from its use in the series, quite iconic.

64- I can't recall what the music for George's death was. I guess they don't wanted to repeat the music all the time which is understandable. there's a good 5 or 6 songs off the soundtrack they use a lot.



64- In the grand scheme of things, does it matter about the comedy music? Not really. I just find it too imposing. maybe if it was quieter I wouldn't mind so much. Thinking of series 1 scenes like "The Wolf Was In Me" or George treating Bernie like a two year old. No music at all. It wasn't needed.

If Tom is referring to George's death, Annie doesn't seem to register that she understands this before carrying on. I think we need a look to show that this is actually her not dealing with her grief. That's all I ask, in this regard.

as for Annie not showing her grief by wailing about all over the shop , well I for one am thankful for that . I was already an emotional wreck after Georges grief and subsequent demise last week - another week of sobbing was not on the "to do" list for this kid !

Why do we all have to love the same things about the show?



As far as I know the show's writers aren't on the blog. Why does it seem that some take comments so personally?



If I wanted to see US style telly we have at least 500 channels to choose from. Only one beeb. Here I was thinking though BBC has an A at the end it was still mainly British..learnes something new today.



Some of us are less than pleases with the turn the show has taken. It seems to want to be a comedy instead of a dramatic series with great comic moments.



I was not happy with th elast series as Annie did seem to be to much on the sid eof stupid. I love Lenora and loved Annie. Not a huge Annie fant at the mo. There is a videos of LC S1 saying she loved Annie as she wasn't wet. She was volnerable, yet strong. Not silly. I wonder if she feels the same about her?

As for this clip, i loved it, music or not. Gotta love Annie! Lenora Crichlow brings so much to Annie with just a raised eyebrow or pause. Her comic timing is impeccable as are her dramatic scenes. We've not seen the best of Annie yet and i think there's plenty more to come. Watch this space...



As for Hals letter of apology, i thought that was a brilliant piece of writing. It gives Hals persona a bit more life having only saw him on screen for a full episode. Both hilarious and unnerving! Credit to Damian Molony for bringing Hal to life. I thought his speech in the pawn shop was pretty chilling.



Btw. The name 'Hal' means both 'ruler of his house' and 'war chief'. Something to think about as we watch Hal become more accustomed to the house and those around him.

I don't think it has been spelled out who is legally the tenant now. I suppose Tom must be. Or else they just haven't bothered to inform the landlord that the legal tenants have died ;)

George killing Wyndham needs to be explained logically to me.I`ll sit down and strap myself in,this should be good.And begin.

As for "a wonderful thing": now that you've mentioned it, it would have been comming to a full circle had they also used this piece of music for George's death scene. I see nothing wrong with repeating what's good.

Music sets the scene in a way the conscious mind is unable to grab the

finer points.



All the emotion we felt for the characters dying/going through difficult times combined with that heart-wrenching music just displayed them even more as connected to the same inner circle of our affection.

And George was without a doubt right at the centre of our love.



The makers of Lost did it, too. They always used "Life and death" at moments of pure bittersweet feelings and I for one never grew tired of it. I still can't listen to it today without getting emotional.

Re: this scene's music: a) it's been on the show before, I'm sure of it

b) I think it's mainly there to highlight the sadder (yearning) music at the end when Leo says he'd give anything to spend eternity with Pearl, etc.



Re: George death music: I don't think that "A Wonderful Thing" is long enough to fit the entire sequence (George's actual death, Future Woman getting stabbed, then all the cuts between George's passing-over - appropriate for a Jew isn't it? - and FW's passing-over AND some bits of The Other Trinity). They could have done with using a portion of it when George actually went through the door though (same as they used a portion when Mitchell was staked), I agree. I mean, Jimmy the theatre ghost was honoured with this track and George wasn't?



Re: Annie's behaviour in this scene: seems pretty normal for someone a) talking to a person they don't know very well, b) about someone they don't really like, c) about a slightly delicate subject, d) concentrating on making a written list at the same time.



And Annie was already coping quite well with her grief in Ep1. I think some time has passed between the episodes, so she's had time to start forcing herself to keep going - the presence of a baby and Tom probably helped with that (babies do not have snooze buttons). As for Tom moving into Mitchell's room, that appears to have been several days ago so they would have discussed it then (whoever mentioned that). And she did move Hal into the bridal suite, so I suppose it's another factor of her "carrying on".



Sorry to burble on, but I've been trying for days not to start answering back about this stuff so it's built up!

how did George manage to kill Wyndham ... if he did? LT says he did…Or does he say EW is dead: nuance.

Personnally, i think it is a clever device to allow EW to show up if the storyline begs for it ... I do not rule out George taking the flak for someone else’s actions.

If we agree that a pair of twins as original vampires may lead to two clans- did I hear the word ‘clan’ uttered by Fergus following the German composer retort?

Two brothers, two clans, 2 POVs on the coming of the age of vampires. EW may have been killed by its own across the great divide over vampire politics and George accepts - officially the blame on condition the Wyndham clan protects the household?

Griffin said it: "First, its father killed John Mitchell in some sort of ham-fisted gesture of affection, then he killed my predecessor Wyndham."

And the name for a group of vampires is a "chapter", Fanboy Graham says it in S3 Ep3.

Griffin states at the initial vampire meeting that George killed Mitchell and then Wyndham.

Fergus uses the word plan to Cutler.

Time for a rest from studying those damn scrolls,my eyes are starting to misbehave.

and by the way , the last female vamps were Cara who lasted 3 seasons albeit very rarely seen, otherwise we only had Daisy seen 1 season, mentionned the following season and Lauren season one

Strange that Pearl seems to be up to speed with some aspects of modern life and yet she mistook Annie's leggings for long johns. Or maybe she didn't and her remark was a deliberate insult....

Hetty's one of the Old Ones. All the other female vamps we've seen so far have been rather... unstable. No reason why this should apply to all female vamps though.

I was watching Prisoners' Wives last night and that Fergus certainly gets around - evil b*stard in that too!
