Warum findest du es dort gut? - Why do you think it's nice there?

To develop your opinions, include some reasons to justify them.

Conjunctions, eg weil (because) and aber (but, however) will help make your opinions even clearer.

Here are some reasons for liking or disliking where you live, where the conjunctions weil and aber have been used. Remember that weil sends the verb to the end of the clause.

The German word Heimat has no equivalent translation in English, but is often expressed as meaning 'home' or 'homeland'. However, the concept of die Heimat represents more of a love or attachment to one's homeland to German speakers.

As people left rural areas to look for work in larger cities, Germans clung to the notion of Heimat as a reaction against the modern world. They longed for a sense of community and tradition to shape their identity, and wanted to maintain ties with where they and their ancestors had been born and raised.

The German singer Herbert Grönemeyer sings in his song Heimat, "Heimat ist kein Ort. Heimat ist ein Gefühl." It means "Heimat is not a place. Heimat is a feeling."
