Approach: Thought replacement

Much like positive self-talk, thought replacement involves a ‘bank’ of positive thoughts that are used to replace negative ones. Negative thoughts can be destructive and make a performer believe there is no point in carrying on. Replacement thoughts need to be used frequently so that they can be immediately available to be recalled and take the place of the negative ones.
