Quality of performance - Accuracy

Accuracy is the ability to perform movements and skills with precision. Quite often it is being able to direct an object to a small target area.

Positive impact

A badminton player with good accuracy can play a range of shots to exact points on the court. This moves their opponent to the extremes of the court, creating more space for the next shot to be hit into, giving more chance of success in that point.

A cricket fielder with good accuracy can collect a moving ball and then throw the ball to the wicket keeper without the need for that player to move away from the stumps. This means they have much more chance of running a batter out.

Negative impact

An attacker in hockey with less accuracy shot will hit shots towards the central part of the goal rather than the corners of the goal. This gives the goal keeper a much better chance of saving the shot.

An archer with less accuracy will send arrows further away from the centre, and sometimes miss the scoring ring completely. This means their total score will be lower, giving them a smaller chance of winning.
