If you want to talk about another person, you must change from the first person (I) to the third person (he/she - someone else), eg

Exercise

Read the following passage taken from the programme of a fundraising event which introduces Hannah Williams, who will be singing at the event. Try to spot the third person forms.

Dyma'r perfformiwrcyntaf. Ei henw ydy Hannah Williams. Mae Hannah yn perfformio yn y giger mwyn codi arian at Ysgol y Llan. Mae Hannah yn byw yn y dref ac mae hi’n un deg wyth oed. Mae Hannah yn mynd i’r coleg lleol. Mae ganddi hi deulu mawr – Mam, Dad, tri brawd a dwy chwaer. Hoff hobi Hannah ydy canu wrth gwrs a mynd i’r ganolfan hamdden i gadw’n heini ac igwrdd â ffrindiau. Hoff gerddoriaeth Hannah ydy cerddoriaeth roc a pop. Mae hi wrth ei bodd yn perfformio.

Notice this expression in the passage - Mae hi wrth ei bodd yn perfformio. This is a Welsh idiom that is used to emphasize enjoyment. It means to really enjoy doing something or to love doing something. We have to make certain changes to the idiom, depending on who we’re talking about. Exercise

Read the following passage where Ben talks about himself. As he describes himself, he uses the first person, the i (I/me) forms.

Fy enw i ydy Ben. Dw i'n byw yn Wrecsam gyda fy nheulu. Dw i'n mynd i'r coleg lleol a dw i'nastudio Hanes, Mathemateg a Saesneg ond ar y penwythnos, dw i'n gweithio mewn caffi yn y dre' a dw i'n mwynhau gweithioyno. Fy hoff hobi ydy chwarae gemau ar y cyfrifiadur a syrffio’r we. Dw i'n mynd ar y cyfrifiadur bob nos ar ôl dod adref o'r coleg. Fy hoff ffilmiau ydy ffilmiau comedi achos maen nhw’nddoniol a dw i wrth fy modd yn chwerthin.
