While some people love travelling, others aren't always so keen on it, so it's important to be able to express your opinion about what you like, or dislike, about different modes of transport – Verkehrsmittel.

On the European mainland, it's easy for people to drive from one country to another, as there is no sea to cross and everyone drives on the right.
In mountainous areas driving can be difficult, so there are many bridges and passes as well as road and rail tunnels to help make the journey easier, for example der Brennerpass (Brenner Pass) and die Europabrücke (Europa Bridge) in Austria, der Gotthardpass (St Gotthard Pass) and der Simplonpass (Simplon Pass) in Switzerland.
It took 17 years to build the Gotthard Base Tunnel. At 57 km long, it is the longest train tunnel in the world.
