Cutbacks 'not to affect tourism'
Bon Accord Baths
The Bon Accord Baths is Aberdeen's oldest pool
Aberdeen's attractiveness to tourists will not be affected by the closure of some of the city's leisure facilities amid council cuts, it has been claimed.

Bon Accord Baths, Doonies Farm and the ice rink are to close permanently or temporarily, and the art gallery will have opening hours restricted.

Louise Scott, head of corporate affairs for Aberdeen City Council, said there was potential for growth.

She told BBC Scotland: "We have a wealth of activities."

The senior council official was speaking ahead of a meeting of the Scottish Government's tourism committee in Aberdeen.

A campaign has been started by swimmers who are angry that the art deco Bon Accord Baths - Aberdeen's oldest pool - has fallen victim to the council cutbacks.

However, Lib Dem councillor John Stewart has said closure could pave the way for an Olympic version instead.
