The Bon Accord Baths is Aberdeen's oldest pool |
A 79-year-old swimming enthusiast has launched a petition in an attempt to save Aberdeen's Bon Accord Baths from closure. The city council decided last week to close down the art deco facility - Aberdeen's oldest pool - as part of cost cutting measures.
George Pettifer, who regularly uses the Bon Accord Baths, has started the campaign to rescue the pool.
He said of the closure plan: "I was flabbergasted, not happy at all."
Mr Pettifer has launched a petition and is organising a rally.

He is also planning to protest around the city with a sandwich board.
Mr Pettifer told BBC Scotland: "I think there's something we can do, we can protest.
"The health I have is down to the fact I swim and exercise.
"I am convinced if I did not I would not feel as good as I feel."
The city council said it needed to close the Bon Accord Baths because it was costing too much to run.
