Visitors to the Bon Accord baths will also have the chance to try out activities such as waterpolo and swimming lessons from 1 November.

The pool has been closed since mid-April while exploratory work was carried out on the diving platforms.

Nearly 8,000 tiles and extensive fixings in the pool were also replaced and repaired during the overhaul.

The baths will open at 0600 BST on Wednesday, 1 November. Photographs of the work in progress and information about the project will be on display in the foyer for visitors.

To thank customers for their patience, Aberdeen City Council will waive the admission charge on all public water-based sessions from 1 to 5 November.

Entry to the health suite and gym will also be free of charge on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

A council spokeswoman said: "We are pleased that the work has now been completed and we are able to reopen the pool to the public.

"We appreciate that the pool has been closed for longer than was originally planned and we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by this extended closure.

"We look forward to welcoming our loyal customers back and to seeing new swimmers at the baths."
