The city hopes to secure an Olympic standard pool |
Funding of 5m is being proposed by Aberdeen City Council to pay towards a new Olympic standard swimming pool. The money is from funds raised through the recent sale of ground leases of three industrial estates.
The 23m swimming pool project still hinges on additional funding from the Scottish Executive and other sports agencies.
The council plans to spend a total of 10m in its programme, also including road, park and toilet improvements.
Councillor Neil Fletcher, convener of resources management, has proposed that the additional 10m of capital projects be authorised.
The proposed 50m swimming pool would be an extension to the Chris Anderson Stadium site at Linksfield.
