Torbay returns to Conservatives
Brixham Harbour
Control of Torbay has altered between the Lib Dems and Tories
The Conservatives have taken control of Torbay Council after gaining seats from the Lib Dems.

Tory candidates won 16 seats in wards including Blatchcombe, Churston with Galmpton and Preston.

The Lib Dems were the biggest losers, after they dropped 14 seats. Independent candidates lost two seats.

Three seats were not elected. The Berry Head with Furzeham ward's vote was cancelled because of the death of one of the candidates.

The whole council was elected and the new line-up sees the Cons with 23, Lib Dems with nine and there is one Independent candidate.

The previous standing was Cons 10, Lib Dem 22 and Independents with four.

Control of the council has swung between the Lib Dems who took control in 2003 and 1997 and the Conservatives took control in 2000.
