The Glastonbury Festival was held at Worthy Farm in Somerset, with the weather proving the biggest talking point. Star performers included The Arctic Monkeys, Amy Winehouse and flamboyant Icelandic singer Bjork. Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend rounded off the weekend as The Who headlined the Pyramid Stage. Dame Shirley Bassey got into the festival spirit donning diamond-encrusted wellington boots, after arriving by helicopter. About 177,500 fans - at least two of whom were dressed as cows - attended the festival, which has run since 1970. While some music fans tried hard to stay clean over the weekend, the muddy conditions were too tempting for others. Rock singer Iggy Pop showed a "lust for life" during his set on Saturday, prompting some fans to invade the stage. Fans complained about the sound but organiser Michael Eavis explained that the local council had asked him to turn it down. Celebrity couple Kate Moss and Pete Doherty attended, with a performance on Saturday by Doherty's band, Babyshambles. Organisers said the flooding would have been far greater without the new draining system that was recently installed. The Rumblestrips played a set at Glastonbury's smallest stage - a tent - for an audience of two competition winners.
