Cash for domestic violence advice
Domestic violence generic
More than 1,000 domestic violence incidents were reported in 2004
A charity in Jersey which helps women who have suffered domestic violence has been awarded a grant of 20,000.

The Association of Jersey Charities has pledged the money to go towards Jersey Women's Refuge's outreach service.

The money will be used to help trained support staff visit people in their homes to provide confidential advice.

The advisers will give suspected domestic violence victims the chance to help them understand their options and make decisions about their life.

In 2004, the police were called to 1,046 suspected incidents of domestic violence, compared with 841 the year before.
