This year's competition takes place from 27 May to 9 June
The 2006 Isle of Man TT Races will be marshalled by a "significantly higher" number of people than in previous years, it has been revealed.

Training courses are already under way for the event and organisers have said they are almost fully subscribed.

The course trains people to deal with accidents, emergency helicopter loading, radio use, race flags and communication with the control tower.

Organisers said they were delighted with the number of applicants.

'Dedicated members'

Roger Hurst, chairman of the TT Marshals' Association, said: "We will have a significant increase in the number of fully trained marshals around the course.

"The association as a whole has come in for some criticism of late, but we have responded in the best way, by upping our efforts in all areas.

"The dedication of our members to give up their own free time to train to such a high level is incredible and we thank them all for their commitment."

This year's competition takes place from 27 May to 9 June.
