New safety measures on TT circuit
Ryan Farquhar in TT action
The races take place from 27 May to 9 June
The traditional straw bales that line the course of the Isle of Man TT Races are to be phased out within the next three years.

Stronger barriers are to be introduced to improve the safety of the course, after an in-depth study was carried out on the island.

A minimum of 30,000 worth of new barriers and pole protectors will be in place in time for this year's contest.

Tourism Minister David Cretney said organisers must "move with the times."

This year's competition takes place from 27 May to 9 June.
