Post targets 'too light'
Guernsey Post van
Deputy Lowe says the delivery times are too slack

New targets set for Guernsey Post are too light, according to one Deputy.

Vale Deputy Mary Lowe said the new aims set by the Office of Utility Regulation are an insult to islanders.

She thinks the delivery times are too slack and do not ensure a good quality of service.

Deputy Lowe said islanders have been used to a service of next-day local-to-local delivery and the new targets, which set three days as the maximum local-to-local delivery time, are not strict enough.

She thinks a lot of mail is still being misdelivered, even with the correct address and postcode.

Deputy Lowe thinks the report's suggestion of setting up an 0800 number to report wrongly delivered items is a good idea, so that Guernsey Post can take action to improve the service.

She says since the Christmas rush is over, the company should be able to deliver mail to the correct address without any excuse.

Guernsey Post said: "We are committed to excellence in providing all customers with services which are secure, reliable and speedy."
