Split Mic, a.k.a East London producers Twin B, Crisis and Juice, talk about the current mixtape phenomenon with 1X DJ Ras Kwame
Twin B
"The UK thing has just stepped up. The quality's just big now. Even as a DJ, I'm finding that the majority of stuff I'm playing is UK stuff. It's not cos I'm trying to rep, it's just that the quality of UK stuff is good enough for me to play. Yeah, I'm happy about that, man. It's exciting!"
Crisis "Music's changing all the time. You've got to be with it while it's changing."
Twin B "Obviously we sell enough to cover costs [but] it's not a thing of money, half of em have been given out... We're motivated by a love of music."
Twin B "It's about pushing the scene because somebody's gotta do it..."
Crisis "We had to cut a lot out and cut the freestyles down."
