Secured by Design - a UK police initiative supporting the principles of cutting theft through the use of better anti-crime products.

On the site you will find information on security and over 100 companies, that make security products, doors and windows that meet with police preferred specifications under the Secured by Design badge.

This does not claim that products are crime proof, but allows the purchaser to make a realistic judgement, based on independent assessment. Correct installation and fittings are essential to this process.

Master Locksmith Association - When employing a locksmith, check that they are a registered member of MLA. They will know what locks should be fitted to comply with police preferred and insurance companies' specifications.

The Association of British Insurers - When improving security, the ABI advises that you seek your insurer's advice to see what discounts might be available and what their security requirements, if any, may be.

Crime Reduction - Government website with tips and advice about home security.
