18 September - 1:00 pm
The Jimmy Young Show presented by Brian Hayes

Brian Hayes introduces a crime special with a panel of guests looking at how to make life safer.

He will be discussing simple precautions to secure your home and property, as well as looking at how and when to make a citizen's arrest.

16 September - 12:04 pm
You and Yours

An investigation into Neighbourhood Watch: how a scheme criticised for being dominated by the middle classes has quietly expanded and reduced crime in a wide variety of areas.

We'll feature the new Neighbourhood Watch scheme that you'll only hear about if you listen to You and Yours.

17 September - 12:04 pm
Call You and Yours

People right across the UK tell us we've given up on trying to solve "minor" offences.

There's the police force that admits it can't deal with run-of-the-mill crimes. And the man who had his briefcase stolen in full view of CCTV and reported the thieves' getaway car registration number minutes after the theft - yet the incident was never investigated.

Ring Call You and Yours on 0800 044 044 to have your say.

18 September - 12:04 pm
You and Yours

A series of community initiatives have succeeded in cutting neighbourhood crime.

One involves Scottish parents trying to drive drug dealers off their estates. In another, locals say a playground in north Wales has prevented a generation of children from drifting into crime.

18 September - 4:00 pm
Thinking Allowed
Laurie Taylor on Radio 4's 'Thinking Allowed'
Laurie Taylor looks at how crime is portrayed in the media

Laurie Taylor is joined by Paul Mason from the Southampton Institute.

They will be looking at the media reporting of crime and the impact this has on the criminal justice system.

18 September - All day
There will be a day of programmes presented from around the UK - from the moment of arrest in a police station, to life in prison later in the day.

Mark Jones and Nick Garnett spend 24 hours at Blackpool police station to find out what life is really like for officers fighting crime on a daily basis.

They report on crimes as they happen and talk to officers on the beat about their job and the pressures they are under.

Our regional journalist Sarah Sturdey will reveal the truth behind sentencing in street crime cases after spending the week at Nottingham Magistrates Court.

At 9:00 am John Pienaar will ask listeners "Can we ever crack crime or is it a fact of life?"

Simon Mayo takes a look at youth crime. Is anything working or are kids out of control? A persistent young offender tells his experience and a panel of experts explore what alternatives there should be to sentencing.

On Five Live Drive Jane Garvey has gained exclusive access to broadcast live from a prison. She'll be at HMP Manchester, formerly Strangeways.

She talks to prisoners about what life is like in jail and find out what is being done to solve the growing problem of overcrowding.

Fi Glover will take up the hot seat after BBC One's live debate. The phones open at 11:00 pm. You can call Five live on 0500 909 693, or text on 07764 100500 or email [email protected].
