Will the weather trick or treat us at Halloween?

The weather looks eerily quiet at the moment but will there be any frightful changes later on for Halloween?

It is a busy week. School holidays for some, with trick or treating coinciding with Diwali, the Festival of Lights, and more fireworks over the weekend ahead of Bonfire Night.

It should be a real scream out there for Halloween.

Most of the UK will be dry with light winds. There should be a lot of cloud but any breaks could lead to mist and fog forming before the witching hour. It could be a bit gloomy – perfect to put you in the spooky spirit.

In northern Scotland a weather front will be knocking on your door in the evening. It could be raining cats and bats! Don’t miss a trick, have a brolly handy and you will be in for a treat, but keep a tight grip as it will be windy.

Some homes will also be lit up because Diwali occurs at the same time as Halloween. It takes place when there is no moon.

Firework displays are likely to start on Friday and continue into the weekend before Bonfire Night on Tuesday 5 November.

There could be a little drizzle in northern England on Friday evening, otherwise the weekend will be sparkling.

An area of high pressure sitting over the UK will keep it dry, though it is difficult to judge how much cloud there will be and there could still be a chill running down your spine. Temperatures will only rocket up to 12 Celsius typically by late afternoon.
