Record-breaking snow has brought parts of the US east coast to a standstill.
Hundreds of thousands are without power and more than 5,000 flights have been cancelled after a powerful "bomb cyclone" swept the region. The storm has now moved into Nova Scotia, Canada, where warnings remain for heavy snow and strong winds.
Part of Rhode Island received 97cm (37.9in), setting a new state record. Bliss Corner in Massachusetts saw up to 94cm (37in), while Central Park in New York City recorded 50cm (19.7in).
Another fast-moving system, an Alberta Clipper, will bring snow and ice to the Great Lakes and north-east by midweek. Snow totals will be smaller, but the region will remain cold all week with frost at night and daytime highs just above freezing.
