Power, justice, freedom
This is the tale I know
Magic and youths, and kings and fools
Brought together when the storm blows
Power! It’s time to put right all the wrong
Justice! It’s time to forgive now to move on
Freedom! Take a stand
Prospero, a duke and his innocent child (Miranda)
Are marooned on an island and barely alive
Overthrown by his brother (Antonio) and the king (Alonso)
They’re all alone with Caliban this hideous thing
So Prospero (yeah) he raises up a storm (yeah)
Watches as the waves in the water rage strong
Scaring all the people who had tried to do him wrong
But Ariel his servant was watching all along
Hoping for freedom, maybe a change of fate
The magical sprite, was there to make them safe
Separated, scattered far and wide
The crew were all across the shore, left, lost but very much alive
Power! It’s time to put right all the wrong
Justice! It’s time to forgive now to move on
Freedom! Who has the power?
After the storm has gone?
Power! It’s time to put right all the wrong
Justice! It’s time to forgive now to move on
Freedom! Take a stand
And bring peace unto this land
Now Miranda’s never met another man (oh ah)
But her father has a plan for her to marry Ferdinand (The king’s son yeah)
They meet up and sure enough
They fall in love right there on the sand
(But) Caliban’s plan was to rule the land (yeah)
Take away the books from the magic man
He found 2 drunk fools who would help him out
“But did they?” no, they were useless louts
Meanwhile a feast of food appeared to the starving few
It was only an illusion, they were truly fooled
Ariel appeared as a harpy shouting ‘shame on you’
‘We were wrong’ they cried, ‘to try and overthrow the Duke’
Power! It’s time to put right all the wrong
Justice! It’s time to forgive now to move on
Freedom! Who has the power?
After the storm has gone?
Power! It’s time to put right all the wrong
Justice! It’s time to forgive now to move on
Freedom! Take a stand
And bring peace onto this land
So Prospero tried (yes he did)
To gather all the people in his cave to try to fix the mess
The king was sad but then saw his son alive and well (ha ha!)
Playing chess (checkmate!) with the daughter of the Duke
He could see that they were in love absolutely
‘Their love is the future’ Prospero cried!
‘Let’s make amends, yes now is the time!’
So the duke forgave his brother all his terrible deeds
Ariel was released and was finally free
The Duke gave up his magic, it’s time to make peace
Then they sail across the sea from Caliban the beast
Left alone on his shore
The king of sand and nothing more
Power! It’s time to put right all the wrong
Justice! It’s time to forgive now to move on
Freedom! Who has the power?
After the storm has gone?
Power! It’s time to put right all the wrong
Justice! It’s time to forgive now to move on
Freedom! Take a stand
And bring peace unto this land!
An animated version of William Shakespeare’s 'The Tempest' in a retelling of the classic play set to modern music.
In the past Prospero, the rightful Duke of Milan, and his infant daughter Miranda were abandoned at sea when his wicked brother, Antonio, seized power.
Prospero and Miranda survived, landed on a remote island and have lived there alone ever since; apart from the spirit Ariel and the beast Caliban, who are Prospero’s servants.
Prospero has magic powers and uses these to raise a storm and trap his enemies on the island with him.
Among the shipwreck victims is Ferdinand, Prince of Naples; Prospero has plans for him and his daughter to marry and, when the young couple meet, they fall instantly in love and become engaged.
Prospero confronts his enemies and forgives them.
He gives up his magic powers and makes plans to set sail for home; to take up his rightful position.
Before he does so he frees Ariel; only Caliban is left behind.
