Four people running off to the woods
In the light of the Athens moon
The course of love never did run smooth
But all's well that ends well
What can you do?!
Love in the woods
Magic (yeah!) and mischief
In the summer time
It's a Midsummer Night's Dream (hah!)
Helena and Hermia the girls in this tale
One short and dark
One tall and pale
Hermia's in love, Lysander's his name
And you know what (what?)
He loves her back just the same
But wait, (ah) her Dad’s arranged
For her to marry Demetrius the very next day
Helena's in love with the groom to be
And you can see she wished that he'd feel the same
Meanwhile in the spot of the forest in the heat of the summer's eve,
Oberon the King, had a right royal fight with Titania, the fairy queen
The King decides to punish Titania
Whips up a potion like "abracadabra!"
The juice of a flower, one drop in her eye
And she’ll fall right in love with the first guy she finds
Love (love!) in the woods
Magic (yeah!) and mischief
In the summer time (ha!)
On a summer night's eve
Fairies (yeah!), potions (yeah!)
Spells that always go oh so wrong
In the summer time
It's a Midsummer Night's Dream (ha!)
The king watches Demetrius and Helena
Decides to lend a hand
He thinks, "I'll fix their love with a fairy spell, well, just because I can"
So when the pair fell asleep he tried it
Reminds Puck his sidekick to put a potion in his eyelids
So that finally when he arises,
He'll fall in love with the very first girl that finds him
It's night time
And Puck (bad luck) put the potion in the wrong man's eyes
Lost in the forest Helena stumbles across him
Lysander's enchanted in love on the spot
If that wasn’t enough actual chaos
Puck thought he’d scare some theatrical players
Turned their lead guy Bottom into an actual ass
Bottom, that's his name? Yeah it's a fact!
His friends left him, he sang, and was heard by the Queen
She stirred from her slumber and felt kinda weird
The spell overcomes her with mischief and wonder
She fell straight in love with his furry long ears
Love (love!) in the woods
Magic (yeah!) and mischief
In the summer time (ha!)
On a summer night's eve
Fairies (yeah!), potions (yeah!)
Spells that always go oh so wrong
In the summer time
It's a Midsummer Night's Dream (ha!)
Oberon and Puck see their mistake
Give the potion to Demetrius and wait till he wakes
He falls in love with Helena (at last!)
But now the situation is terrible (why?)
Both men want her and she’s not alright
And Hermia's upset so they argue and fight
The fairies have caused mayhem tonight
But they do put things right (they do put things right)
Into the Queen's ears the king whispers a charm
So she falls out of love with this donkey-like man
Who Puck then turns back to his regular state
So he could continue rehearsing his play
Finally, last but not least,
Puck rearranges the couples, sends them back to sleep
Again he puts the potion in their eyes
So they wake in love and all is right
Spells were lifted
Love troubles removed
They get married the very next noon
The play is performed for their wedding guests
And here our midsummer story concludes!
Love (love!) in the woods
Magic (yeah!) and mischief
In the summer time (ha!)
On a summer night's eve (dream!)
Fairies (yeah!), potions (yeah!)
Spells that always go oh so wrong

It’s a Midsummer Night's Dream (ha!)
Video summary
An animated version of William Shakespeare’s 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream' in a retelling of the classic play set to modern music.
In a wood outside Athens is the realm of Oberon and Titania the king and queen of the fairies; they are having an argument about who should have custody of a human child.
Into the middle of their quarrel stumble four young lovers; they too are arguing with each other.
Finally there’s a group of hopeless amateur actors led by Bottom and Quince who are trying to rehearse a play.
Oberon and his attendant Puck try to help the lovers, but only make matters worse.
They also give Bottom a donkey’s head and make Titania fall in love with him as a punishment for her stubbornness.
Confusion reigns, but eventually Oberon and Titania are reunited, the lovers get married and the actors perform their play at the wedding celebration.
This is from the series: Shakespeare in Shorts.
