Ha! Yeah!
Here we go…
Gather round, let me tell you an incredible tale
A love story, that ends in the stickiest way
About a daughter, a son and the wickedest fate (ever!)
Put on the page, so picture the play
Romeo, Romeo
Wherefore art thou, Romeo
You're my only hope, I don't know why (why?)
We had to fall in love
Here we go….
Two families are fighting, at war
They fought for so long that they couldn't recall what for
But the Montagues and Capulets had no love for each other (mmm hmm!), of that we’re sure
And by chance at a party, our story starts
Boy spies girl at first glance, he stole her heart
Both trapped in the moment, and feeling the sparks
Unaware their romance would turn darkOn this particular night, Romeo and his guys
Put on a disguise and planned a surprise,
Thought they'd break into the Capulet party and hide
But it was love at first sight when Juliet caught his eye
Romeo, Romeo
Wherefore art thou, Romeo (what?)
You're my only hope, I don't know why (why?)
We had to fall in love, (oh no!)
Romeo, Romeo
Wherefore art thou (what?)
Our love feels so strong
I'd do anything, anything, to keep it going on
Imagine loving somebody you couldn't be with
Not even seen speaking out in the street with
So they sneaked around and hid their feelings
To keep it from people
The teens would be meeting in secret (shhhhh! …)
They schemed to get married in private
Found a monk up for helping them hide it (Friar Laurence)
They decided
It felt like kinda the right thing, in spite of their families being rivals
But when the Capulet clan, found out that Romeo's gang
Had broken into the dance, things started happening fast
Juliet's cousin (Tybalt) kills Romeo's friend (Mercutio)
Then Romeo takes revenge and kills him (what!?)
Romeo, Romeo
Wherefore art thou, Romeo (what?)
You're my only hope, I don't know why (why?!)
We had to fall in love (oh no!)
Romeo, Romeo
Wherefore art thou (what?!)
Our love feels so strong
I'd do anything, anything, to keep it going on
So Monk and Juliet, hatched a curious plan
They thought hard, so she wouldn't get caught with the man
She chose to fake her own death with a potion
A potion? (Hmm! That's so wrong! Mmmhhhmm! Go on …)
But her note to Romeo didn't reach him in time
So upset, he thought she'd actually died
He ended his own life then and there
She woke up, saw him, killed herself, and that was the end of the pair (oh no!)
It took this to get these families talking, and end their ridiculous fighting and warring
So what do we know when we close these chapters?
Well, it's a different kind of happy ever after
Romeo, Romeo
Wherefore art thou, Romeo (what?)
You're my only hope, I don't know why (why?)
We had to fall in love, (oh no!)
Romeo, Romeo
Wherefore art thou? (what!)
Our love feels so strong
I'd do anything, anything, to keep it going on
Here we go ….
Video summary
An animated version of William Shakespeare’s 'Romeo and Juliet' in a retelling of the classic play set to modern music.
Two powerful families in Verona, the Montagues and the Capulets, have been feuding for so long that they no longer remember why.
Two teenage members of the families, Romeo and Juliet, fall madly in love, but have to keep it a secret, even though they get married.
In a street fight Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin kills Mercutio, Romeo’s best friend; in revenge Romeo kills Tybalt.
Romeo then has to go on the run.
Aided by a monk, Friar Laurence, Juliet plans to rejoin Romeo and a scheme is hatched to convince everyone that she has died.
She tries to tell Romeo, but her message never reaches him and, thinking she really is dead, Romeo kills himself; Juliet quickly follows suit.
Finally the two families are reunited, though it is in tragic circumstances.
