Was this a satisfactory conclusion?

Sri Lanka had begun the ICC Champions Trophy final brightly on Sunday, but good performances from Singh and Sehwag put India back in the driving seat.

With Sri Lanka having notched up 244-5, the visitors had barely got settled with the bat before heavy rain forced the match to be abandoned.

India managed to regain the momentum when the match was started from scratch on Monday.

But, with Sri Lanka again struggling to build a competitive total, and India reaching 38 for one, play was again washed out, giving the sides a share of the spoils.

Do the rules on rain need to be changed?

The rules are perfect as they are. We have seen plenty of matches ruined because of reduced over targets. If the time is there to play again it should be taken!

And who really remembers, or cares, who wins most of these Mickey Mouse one day competitions? It's only the World Cup that people remember.

I think the final match should be always played. The rain rules should be applied on the league matches but not on semi-finals and finals. One team should WIN; sharing the trophy is not the right decision!

We can't accept a trophy being distributed among two teams because of rain; the recently concluded ICC champion's trophy was a huge disappointment to many diehard fans of cricket. What a joke! You get excited and watch the best teams to reach the finals. Then the ICC says, oops it is raining so let us declare both teams as winners. Wake-up ICC, you are making cricket too complicated by sitting in big offices. Make it simple for cricket lovers like me.

The rules for the ICC Champions Trophy have been criticised by leading Indian cricket figures after the rain. After the first match why did the Indian board of cricket keep their silence? Before they started the second match both the teams agreed for the fresh match and we have to blame the Indian cricket board and the Indian captain.

Followers of the game give up big chunks of their days and nights, and prime time at that, often depriving themselves of sleep and even miss a lot of important things just to follow the progress of a tournament. I am thinking of the countless hours that millions spend before television screens, newspapers, magazines and the internet in the build-up to the finals.

Everybody likes to see a result, and the best team needs to win, even if it be by a single run scored off the very last ball to be bowled. If those who made these rules think that they were trying to be fair; we trust that they would al least now understand that the result of this rule does not seem fair at all. A continuation and not a re-play, and even adjusting the time to dodge the rains would be the way to go.

Technology seems to be the new mantra for ICC - then why don't use the weather forecasting technology in case of rain hit matches and have a flexible rule!

The forecast was for scattered thunderstorms in the evening - what were the officials thinking when they let the game begin afresh and then still play a Day/Night game?

What a waste of energy for India - they fielded both days like prowling tigers in such hot and humid conditions - for nothing - thanks to educated fools who run the ICC!! I am sure India would have beat SL on both days.

A lot needs to be done with the rain rules. I think it's only fair to continue the game the next day where it was left unfinished. The current rules totally suck!!!!!

The rules are absurd, they denied all cricket fans of what should have been a superb final. I'm sure Sri Lanka's top class bowling side would have more than halted the Indians' attack leading the Sri Lankans to their deserved victory. Now we'll have to wait until the World Cup for another match of this calibre.

Why bother changing the existing rules. Just leave it as it exists. The more you start changing rules the more complicated it is going to be for the umpires.

It is really stupid to have played the entire match from scratch, as the rain was predicted again next day. The game could have gone anybody's way had the game started from the point where it was stopped. The ICC has made a mockery of all the cricket lovers in the world.

What a complete and utter farce - a true shambles. Why start the match all over again? For a start, it handed an advantage to Sri Lanka because India spent all day in the field on the first day and then had to field again straight after on the second day!

Sri Lanka's players would have been comparatively fresh. I simply do not understand why they could not just carry on today from the scores yesterday. We would have had a winner that way, not 'shared winners' - a joke in itself. Such rules belittle the competition and the effort put into it by all the competitors.

It is not fair for any team to share the trophy after all the hard work they put in to get to the final. Rain cannot wash out the fate of one team. The cancellation of both of the games seems ridiculous, why should India have to share the trophy, when they could have won both of the matches!

India out-played Sri Lanka in every way. India have one of the best batting line-ups in the world, a target of 223 runs would have been well within reach. Heaven saved the day on both occasions for Sri Lanka, talk about good fortune!

The D/L method may be complex, but it seems to be the fairest way of resolving one day matches. Finals should certainly have a reserve day as they do in England, but under no circumstances should the match start again from scratch unless less than 10 overs have been bowled.

Don't forget that the team winning the toss will take the weather forecast into account when making the decision to bat or field. And, as usual, the ICC seems to have forgotten about the poor old spectators again - pity those at Colombo who saw 100 overs of Sri Lanka and a dozen or so of India.

If they had carried on from where they left off at least a result would have been reached.

Absolute foolishness. You have a forecast suggesting thunderstorms and you want to replay 100 overs! Only idiots can make these rules. I do not blame Sri Lanka or India, both teams played brilliantly and deserved to win the trophy.

India might have won the match, but you can never be sure in a one day match. But both the teams showed what the Asian teams can do. For people like Malcolm Gray who made these rules, may God bless them with a little more intelligence!

Absolutely not. Why the heck should they start all over again? This gives Sri Lanka the chance to re-do their team and score more. Nonsense.

In the 1999 WC, the India-England match started from where they had left off the previous day. The ICC is run by idiots! And why should Sri Lanka get a full 50 overs again today, even though rain is forecast again. How stupid!
