ICC Champions Trophy, Colombo:
Sri Lanka 292-6 (50 overs) beat Holland 86 all out (29.2 overs) by 206 runs

Marvan Atapattu hit a century and Muttiah Muralitharan took four wickets as Sri Lanka became the first side to book an ICC Champions Trophy semi-final spot with a 206-run win over Holland.

The Dutch, playing in just their sixth full one-day international, gave good account in the field even though their hosts managed to reach 292 for six.

But their batsmen were dazzled by the floodlights in the day-night clash at Premadasa Stadium, bowled out for 86 within 30 overs.

Muralitharan was only brought into the attack in the 19th over, by which time Holland had struggled to 59 for seven.

But he finished with figures of four for 15 off 5.3 overs, including a six smashed by tailender Edgar Schiferli.

Only Tim de Leede topped Schiferli's 15, striking five boundaries in an innings of 31 before becoming one of four batsmen caught behind by Kumar Sangakkara.

Opening bowler Pulasti Gunaratne and off-spinner Kumar Dharmasena took two wickets each.

Committed fielding

Atapattu's 101 came from 118 deliveries - his sixth century in one-day internationals - but against some nagging medium-pace bowling he managed just eight boundaries before he was caught sharply at cover.

Following the dismissal of Sanath Jayasuriya, slicing Victor Grandia to cover for a brisk 36, the Sri Lankan middle order was kept under wraps.

Sangakkara took 68 deliveries about his 41 before he was bowled around his legs by spinner Adeel Raja in the 36th over.

And it was left to Russel Arnold to crack 22 from 20 deliveries at the foot of the order.

A spectacular one-handed catch by De Leede, running towards the boundary rope, saved six and accounted for Aravinda de Silva for 23.

And Mahela Jayawardene apparently gained a reprieve from the video umpire before he was run out by Bas Zuiderant for 14.

Umpire David Orchard gave Jayawardene out lbw to captain Roland Lefebrve before consulting with the third official, who decided that the delivery had clipped bat.

Raja finished with two for 50, while Schiferli was the most economic of the Dutch bowlers, conceding just 29 from his seven overs.
