Raith agree McKinnon deal
Montrose celebrate a goal by Ray McKinnon

Raith Rovers have moved to sign former Aberdeen and Dundee United midfielder Ray McKinnon until the end of the season.

The news came as Raith's Second Division promotion rivals, Stranraer, and Third Division Morton made moves during the January transfer window.

32-year-old McKinnon, who also had a spell with Nottingham Forest, was most recently at Montrose.

He has been training at Stark's Park for two weeks and played as a trialist in a friendly with St Johnstone.

Rovers chairman Danny Smith said: "We have agreed a deal and the manager is delighted to get him."

Meanwhile, Ross Matheson will not be returning to Morton after the Cappielow club dropped any interest in the Raith midfielder.

But another Scottish club are showing an interest in the 25-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer.

Morton have added to their squad by signing 20-year-old defender Robbie Henderson, who had been on loan from Kilmarnock to Queen of the South, and James McAllister from Linwood Boys Club.

The Greenock club also have Australian defender Lee Robertson on trial.

Hamilton Academical midfielder Keiran Donnelly is on trial with English Premiership club Sunderland.

Stranraer have signed Jon Crawford, the 33-year-old defender having left Queen of the South.

Midfielder Ryan McCann has returned to Celtic following his loan spell with St Johnstone.

Former Hibernian coach Donald Park has become assistant to John Robertson at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
