The match was marred somewhat by fighting between spectators. One eyewitness, describe the violence as being like a a "riot". Out on the pitch, there was never much doubt about the outcome of the match once Gaston put Coleraine ahead with a 16th minute close-range effort. Stephen Beatty should have extended Coleraine's lead in the 35th minute but Larne goalkeeper Andy McDonald saved the former Linfield man's effort. McDonald kept Larne in the contest with a series of fine saves. However, he could nothing about Gaston's second goal in the 59th minute with the centre-back heading home Beatty's cross. The defender has now scored 10 goals this season as COleraine stretch their recent unbeaten run to 18 games. |
